ZONZA - cultural production
ZONZA develops works that investigate the body, space, and presence in the performing arts. Exploring tensions between technique, risk, and materiality, its creations traverse the notions of circus and dance through a dialogue with other languages, such as theater and architecture.
Created in 2023, ZONZA is based on the work that Adelly Costantini has been developing since 2015, now expanded through a partnership with Renato Linhares. The initiative consolidates a mode of production that articulates creation, cultural management, training, and circulation, operating in continuous dialogue with the city and various social contexts. It works at the frontier between creation and society, understanding art as a field of experimentation capable of reorganizing perceptions and straining modes of relationship.
ZONZA's activities are organized around three axes—artistic creation, executive production, and training projects—which do not function in isolation: each work proposes new articulations between artists, territories, and audiences. The initiative develops shows, actions in urban spaces, cultural occupations, workshops, residencies, and mediation practices, always betting on the critical power of the arts of the body.
On the educational front, ZONZA coordinates and carries out projects that strengthen the production chain and drive the development of artists and managers. Among the ongoing actions are the Aerial Laboratory—workshops on the creative process in aerial acrobatics—workshops and consulting on cultural production, and networking initiatives with collectives and institutions, consolidating ZONZA's role in articulating and supporting the sector.
Its activities also extend to social projects and practices that bring different territories closer together. Among them are the interactive-acrobatic mural Manguinhos das Crianças, the literary performance Pregação, the Rio no Ar Festival — dedicated to residencies and aerial acrobatics performances in Rio de Janeiro —, as well as proposals aimed at children and expanding access, either through inclusive projects or in collaboration with artists who work with other bodily perspectives.
With integrated direction, production, and creation, ZONZA develops projects that traverse streets, museums, cultural institutions, and different territories, operating in crossings that expand forms of presence and modes of relationship with space.
The duo's actions, research, and trajectories are consolidated in the creation of the works “Onde eu guardo um sonho” (Where I keep a dream), ‘Mão’ (Hand), “A primeira cena de um filme” (The first scene of a film), and “Shampoo [ autobiografia do chão ]” (Shampoo [autobiography of the floor]). Zonza collaborates with various artists and productions. Information about the shows is available on the website. Welcome.
