Renato Linhares
Renato Linhares, 44, is a director, choreographer, and actor.
He began his theater studies in 1998 in Porto Alegre with the group ÓI NÓIS AQUI TRAVEIZ, staging Bertold Brecht's play THE EXCEPTION AND THE RULE (1999). In 2001, he moved to Rio de Janeiro and joined the new circus company INTRÉPIDA TRUPE, where he remained for eight years, creating the shows FLAP (2001), SONHOS DE EINSTEIN (2003), METEGOL (2005), among others. In 2002, he met Enrique Diaz and Mariana Lima, and together they created the IMPROVISO COLLECTIVE, staging the plays NÃO OLHE AGORA (DON'T LOOK NOW) (2004) and OTRO (OTHER) (2010), which were performed in countries such as France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan. Also in 2002, he met director and choreographer Cristina Moura, with whom he produced several dance and theater shows, including HOMENS (2005), A MULHER QUE MATOU OS PEIXES (2009), NU DE BOTAS (2017), and AGÔ - CONVERSAS (2019). In 2012, he premiered his first creation, the dance show O MARAVILHOSO MUSEU DA CAÇA E DA NATUREZA (The Wonderful Museum of Hunting and Nature), with performers Alice Ripoll, Fabrício Belsoff, Luciana Fróes, and Laura Samy.
He has been part of the FOGUETES MARAVILHA group since 2011, where he created the shows NINGUÉM FALOU QUE SERIA FÁCIL (2011), SÍNDROME DE CHIMPANZÉ (2013), MUNDO MARAVILHA (2012, a co-production with the Portuguese company MUNDO PERFEITO), MORTOS-VIVOS: UMA EX-CONFERÊNCIA (2017), SUBTERRÂNEO – UM MUSICAL OBSCURO (2022), a co-production with the Portuguese company MÁ-CRIAÇÃO.
Also with Paula Diogo's Portuguese company MÁ-CRIAÇÃO, he collaborated on the shows SPEED DATE (2020), PAISAGEM (2021), ESPELHOS E MONSTROS (2022) and TERRA NULLIUS (2019-2025), as well as his most recent work, the solo show SHAMPOO [ autobiography of the floor ], in co-production with ZONZA, presented in France and Portugal (2024/25).
He is the director and choreographer of the show MÃO, presented in several cities in Brazil since 2016, as well as A PRIMEIRA CENA DE UM FILME [2025], with Adelly Costantini, Carolina Cony, and Jojo Rodrigues.
His latest works include the shows CÉREBRO CORAÇÃO, BAILE PARTIMCUNDUM, LÁ DENTRO TEM COISA, TRAJETÓRIA SEXUAL, SEIS MODELOS PARA JOGAR, O QUE REALMENTE ESTÁ CONT. ECENDO QUANDO ALGO ACONTECE, A PEQUENA COLEÇÃO DE TODAS AS COISAS, OS SETE SAMURAIS, in partnership with various artists such as Enrique Diaz, Mariana Lima, Alex Cassal, Cristina Moura, Cristian Duarte, Dani Lima, Denise Stutz, Alice Ripoll, Laura Samy, Álamo Facó, Vinicius Calderoni, Adriana Falcão, and Marcio Abreu.
